Sacred Heart School initially received accreditation by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) in 1995, and the school was granted continued accreditation in 2005. In 2013 the faculty and administration of Sacred Heart School began the self-study process required for continued accreditation. The self-study was designed to demonstrate how Sacred Heart School carries out its mission and meets the standards for accreditation. The self-study identified both strengths and weaknesses of Sacred Heart School and plans for school improvement. In addition to the self-study, a four-day visit was carried out by a visiting committee assembled by NEASC. Upon completion of all the requirements of NEASC, Sacred Heart School was granted continued accreditation in 2015.

The school community is proud of the commendations by the visiting committee, including:

  • living the mission statement in harmony with the community and the needs of the twenty-first century
  • an outstanding and dedicated faculty and staff who demonstrate genuine care and concern for their students
  • a strong governance team who engage in planning and policy-making which fully adheres to and aligns with the stated mission of the school
  • providing a rigorous and comprehensive academic program that encourages each child to develop to his/her fullest potential

The school community is working to address the following recommendations of the visiting committee report:

  • to adopt and implement an annual evaluation process to foster continued growth of the principal and a self-evaluation process for use by members of the school advisory board
  • to train all faculty and staff to fully utilize the FACTS student information system
  • to review the current writing program to ensure continuity from kindergarten through grade four
  • to continue to vertically align the science curriculum
