Sacred Heart families that choose to volunteer as part of our tuition reduction program have many opportunities to fulfill their obligation. Please use the links below to sign up to volunteer for upcoming events.

2019-20 School Year Opportunities

September 2019

Middle School Social: Attend planning meeting prior to event, assist with purchasing of “safe food” refreshments, set up, chaperone and clean up. Average hours earned: 4

4th & 5th Grade Social: Attend planning meeting prior to event, assist with purchasing of “safe food” refreshments, set up, chaperone and clean up. Average hours earned: 5

October 2019

Family Bingo Night: Attend planning meeting(s), assist with setup and cleanup of Lower Church Hall, and serve food at event. Average hours earned: 4

Book Fair: Assist chairs with running of the activity including setup (Monday evening) and cleanup (Thursday afternoon). October 15-17 (during school day) and October 16 is Family Night. Average hours earned: 5-10

Halloween Spooktacular: Attend planning meeting prior to event, assist with setup, supervise activities, serve “safe food” refreshments, and help with cleanup. Average hours earned: 6-8

November 2019

Collaborative Blood Drive: Sacred Heart School and the SH/STM Collaborative will be hosting a blood drive to honor our Veterans and First Responders. We seek volunteers to help with setup, cleanup, and staffing the event. Average hours earned: 2-3

“Me and My Guy” Dance: We seek volunteers to attend a planning meeting prior to event, assist with setup, purchase and serve “safe food” refreshments, and help with cleanup. Average hours earned: 5

Bake Sale: We need volunteers to bake for the Bake Sale and help with setup, assist with the sale of items and assist with cleanup. Average hours earned: 1 hour for donations of baked goods; 3-5 hours for those working at the sale.

December 2019

Santa’s Workshop: Attend planning meetings prior to event, assist with purchasing items, assembly/crafting of items, make and display signage, put together take-home packets for students, set up the day before the event, assist shoppers on day of event, and help with cleanup. Average hours earned: 12-15

January 2020

Meat & Wine Raffle: Assist with soliciting/organizing raffle prizes, sell tickets, set up, work event and clean up. Average hours earned: 3-4

Catholic Schools Week Reception: Purchase and help serve refreshments, assist with setup and cleanup. Average hours earned: 3

Teacher Appreciation Luncheon: Make food for event, cover a classroom, assist with setup and cleanup. Average hours earned: 2

February 2020

Family Trivia Night: Assist with setup and cleanup of the event. Average hours earned: 3-4

March 2020

International Night: A celebration of SHS families’ heritages! Volunteers will attend planning meeting; assist with setup and cleanup in Lower Church Hall; other duties as plans develop. Average hours earned: 4 hours for those hosting a table; 6-8 for event volunteers.

May 2020

Used Uniform Sale: Help sort, fold and size donated items; assist with setup and cleanup of sale. Average hours earned: 3-4

Spring Social/Fundraiser: Assist chairs with event planning, sponsorships, setup, staffing the event, and cleanup. Average hours earned: 12-15

Spring Concert/Grandparents Day: Assist chair with distribution of refreshments and gifts for visitors to classrooms; help with decorations. Average hours earned: 2

Field Day: Assist with setup, run games, chaperone students, and clean up games. Average hours earned: 4

Ongoing Opportunities

Athletics: (for parents of 5th~8th grade students) coaches for basketball, scorekeeper, referees. Average hours earned: 40

Box Tops for Education: Assist the chair with clipping and organizing of Box Tops. Average hours earned: 6-8

Communications: Work with communication team to get word out regarding Sacred Heart School activities and events via social media and press releases.

Lunch Parent Distributor: Daily opportunity to organize and distribute the hot lunch orders to the students. Serve throughout three lunch periods, starting at roughly 11:20 a.m. and ending at roughly 12:30 p.m. If you sign up for this it is imperative that you are there, as the children and faculty rely on parents at this busy time of day. Please note you may sign up for a frequency that is less than weekly; on the signup form, please use the “Notes” field to indicate your availability, e.g. “every other week”, etc. Average hours earned: 20-40

Lunch Parent: Daily opportunity (new in 2019-20, we seek volunteers for only K2 lunch, which is at 11:40 a.m.) sign up for day or days that work for your schedule. Be present in cafeteria/classrooms to supervise and assist K2 students during lunch and recess. If you sign up for this it is imperative that you are there, as the children and faculty rely on parents at this busy time of day. Please note you may sign up for a frequency that is less than weekly; on the signup form, please use the “Notes” field to indicate your availability, e.g. “every other week”, etc. Average hours earned: 20-40

Technology: This committee is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all of the technology-related equipment and software in the school. The committee usually meets once a month at night for 2~4 hours based on need and number of volunteers available. Occasional daytime hours may become available. Volunteers need not have experience working with computers but should be able to troubleshoot technology problems. Average hours earned: 6-8

Yearbook: Work to prepare the annual yearbook for all students, including but not limited to taking and collecting photographs, layout, design and distribution.
