SHS Mentoring Program

As part of the school community’s strategic plan to strengthen and sustain Sacred Heart School, we are excited to continue our family mentoring program. Our goal is to assimilate new families into the Sacred Heart School community in a meaningful and effective manner. We originally implemented the Family Mentoring Program with incoming 2014-2015 school families. By all accounts, the program has been successful and well received. We will continue this Family Mentoring Program for the 2019-2020 school year. Every new family will be paired with an assigned veteran family from the Sacred Heart School community. Families will be introduced to each other at New Parent Orientation on Tuesday, May 27th at 7:00 p.m.

The overall task of the veteran family is to answer any questions or concerns that the new family may have, for example: school uniforms, drop off procedures, volunteer opportunities, social activities or school lunch choices. Our hope is that new families will be able to have some level of comfort and security knowing that they have a resource available to answer questions. Veteran families will be asked to establish contact with their assigned family a number of times during the year.

Depending on the number of new families, we may not be able to accommodate every person’s request to mentor a new family. We will contact you if you are assigned and give you more detailed information. Families participating will be given credit for 3 volunteer hours for time spent mentoring families.

If you would like to mentor a new family, please fill out the form below by Friday, May 3, 2019. Please feel free to contact Kaitlyn Aiello or Kelly Powers with any questions or concerns. Thank you for your interest in becoming a mentor!
