Important Letter for Sacred Heart-St. Francis Xavier School Partnership Families
July 21, 2020
Dear Parents and Families,
We hope you are well, and you are enjoying these warm summer days. Summer, as always, is certainly passing quickly. The purpose of this email is to bring you up to date with all we have been doing this month. Our Student Information System (SIS) has been updated so that we can now email all families from both campuses. We are working to coordinate the websites of the St. Francis Xavier and Sacred Heart campuses, as well.
We have been busily preparing for the opening of school. Our goal is to open in September with everyone present. The school faculty will report on September 1 and all students will begin on Tuesday, September 8.
In June, we established a COVID-19 Response Team to prepare for the opening of school. This team includes Mrs. Shannon Mazza, Mrs. Julie Carraher, Mrs. Bridget Jaklitsch and me. The team meets regularly, along with Father Charlie and Father Sean.
As a team, we have been closely monitoring all communications and directives regarding the opening of schools from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, the CDC, Massachusetts Department of Education and the Catholic Schools Office of the Archdiocese of Boston.
Our first step was to identify and purchase all the PPEs necessary for protecting the health of students and faculty. That has been done.
As a school, we are required to develop and file a plan for the opening of schools with the Massachusetts Department of Education and the Catholic Schools Office. This plan has 3 components. This first is for having all students returning to school, the second is a hybrid plan for having only some of the students in the building at certain times, the third is the plan for remote learning, if necessary. The plan will be filed by July 31.
Renovations have been made to classrooms at both campuses to allow for social distancing of students. We will be working this week to set up model classrooms at both campuses. Photos and videos will be shared as soon as possible, so that everyone will have an idea what classes will look like.
We hope to announce the faculty for both campuses this week. The process started in mid-June with the Catholic School Office reviewing applications and interviewing candidates. At the end of the interviews, a list of candidates recommended for a second interview was sent to us.
The second interviews were conducted by a committee that included the headmaster, assistant principal and a parent/representative from St. Francis Xavier and Sacred Heart Schools. After these interviews were completed, the committee made recommendations for appointments to be submitted to Father Charlie and Father Sean.
During the coming weeks we will be seeking your direct input. A link to a survey regarding transportation is included in this email. Please complete this as soon as possible. Other surveys will be sent soon.
Please contact us with any questions or concerns,
