Students in the first grade classroom are enthusiastic about learning and are eager to participate in classroom activities–largely because each experience in school is new! They continue to learn the relationship between rules, behavior, and consequences or rewards. Students become more independent, goal-directed, and self-confident.
Academically, first graders show growth across all subjects; during the year, they focus on reading and writing, math, religion, science & technology, and Social Studies. Students also begin Spanish instruction in grade 1.
